FLORIDA
Sonnet

Death is the end. The earth is cold and wet.
There are tears running down sad pale faces.
A person lying in a coffin with black shoe laces.
Places and people that he has never met.
The room is full to the brim, and all the tables have been set.
In all the corners there are flowers in vases.
All are sad and morning, but are going through the paces.
He is dead and gone and for him there is no returning.
And for some this is most disconcerting,
But for me there is hope not hurting.
For those who believe in God our maker
There is life ever after in heaven up above.
Jesus Christ my hope, my father I love,
Sacrificed so that I will one day see God’s great acre.
